Clinical pilates for health and well being.
Clinical Pilates is a modified form of traditional Pilates developed by physiotherapists, which focuses on activating your core muscles while performing various functional movements. It can help correct muscle imbalance and/or weakness, improve flexibility, core and body strength, and enhance posture and body awareness. Traditional Pilates was devised by Joseph Pilates, who was influential in rehabilitating the wounded in hospitals in the early 1900s and further worked with elite sports and dance individuals.
Delinda is a Certified Pilates Instructor with the APPI (Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute). She has extensive knowledge of how to modify exercises to keep the sessions interesting and ensure you are developing and progressing in the right direction.
Why Physiotherapy led Pilates? As a Chartered Physiotherapist and Certified APPI Pilates Instructor, you will be in safe hands no matter your level, whether a complete beginner or advanced. There are extensive variations to the core Pilates exercises. These can be modified to make them harder or easier, with or without the use of equipment.
Due to COVID, equipment can no longer be provided. When you sign up for your course, a kit bag including a small and large theraband, a small ball, and spiky massage balls will need to be purchased for £25. You will also be asked to bring your own mat to the session.
Before commencing Pilates, there is a health screening form we ask all participants to complete so that we can look after your individual needs correctly. It's best to wear comfortable, stretchy clothing that will allow you to move freely.
